4 Quick Food Tips

Just updated these 4 Quick Tips that make my life easier:
Triple washed organic romaine hearts are a lifesaver. Great for a quick snack or do what I do – munch on this while making dinner. Helps so you aren’t famished when you start eating. The entire box is under 50 calories, and has fiber to boot. No prep time Just open box and enjoy. Also great for adding ingredients instead of using bread for a sandwich.
2. Use Mustard to Spice Things Up
Be careful that the mustard you select is not full of sugar. We found Nathan’s Coney Island deli mustard with the best list of ingredients – mustard seeds, vinegar, salt, turmeric, and spices. Has 40 mg of sodium and 0 calories and carbs for a teaspoon. Only $1.99 for 12 ounces.
When you simply must have something at night, try a cup of this relaxing licorice herbal tea. It is naturally sweet and delicious. I had to read the label several times to be sure that there was no sugar added, it was that sweet!
This package has 4 half cup servings of plain brown rice with only 8 mg of sodium (be careful – some are loaded with sodium). 90 seconds in the microwave and you don’t even have to wash a pot.

Hi! Tomorrow morning will be my first day for my 24 Day Challenge! I went shopping and loaded up on raw veggies. frozen veggies, fruits and different sources of proteins. I packed my snacks for tomorrow. And was going to pack baked chicken breast and a nice garden salad for my lunch but with out even thinking about it, I lightly drizzled the chicken with spicy BBQ sauce when it was about half way done baking. Did I screw up already? Can I still have this chicken with my salad for lunch tomorrow? Is BBQ sauce a huge no no?

@ Jennifer,
Barbecue sauce is a problem since usually very high in sugar. Try to wipe the sauce off with a paper towel if you don’t have an alternative.

@ Lisa,
If you have fruit as snack, be sure to have protein with it (hard boiled egg, slice of turkey, a few raw almonds, etc.)

You said not to use almond milk, the diet says no dairy, but Almond milk is made from almonds not a cow. I’m confused.. I was told coconut, soy, and almond milk were ok since they are non dairy..

Have heard many things about Advocare, have friends that promote it and everything,….but still am not fully won over. Is it safe??? is it going to make me jittery?? Am i going to be on the toilet all 10 days (for the cleansing part) Do i have to follow a strict diet meal plan, or can i eat whatever i want as long as i stick to clean eating?? So many questions i know but any answers would really help to make my final decision!

I am a bit confused… I have been looking at advocare websites and seem to be getting 2 different answers about bfast and mid morning snack.
I was eating a piece of fruit after fiber shake. Then a bit later (2 21/2hrs) having more fruit & 2 eggs as the packet i got from my advo person instructed.
But on line I saw a site that said for bfast have a shake or PVC (protien veg carb) then for mid morning have fat & fruit. Is one way better then the other?

@ K,
You are correct in what you are doing. Some groups do use the shakes, but our group avoids dairy, so we wait until the Phase 2 to add them in.

I am on day 5 of the herbal cleanse. The site to which I was referred when I started showed a chart that advised the PCV or Advocare Meal Replacement shake for breakfast. I was wondering why there were only 14 shakes included on a 24 day plan!
So…I want to switch starting tomorrow to fruit only for breakfast. Am I too late? Have I already messed it up by having a shake each of my first days?
Also, when can I add vanilla almond milk? It says it’s non-dairy, but there’s a little bit of sugar (in the form of evaporated cane juice).
Thanks!

@ Jamie,
Just continue on. Don’t use almond milk or other milk (no dairy on the cleanse) – and many alternative milks have added sugar and other products we are trying to avoid.

Almond milk is NOT Dairy, it is made from almonds!! just like soy, coconut, and rice milk is not dairy… if you won’t post my comment at least correct your statement…
Healthy Girl

@ Manda,
That is correct, but we do not advise any milk. Many of the alternative milks have sugar and other products we are avoiding during the cleanse.

I am 5 days away from finishing the challenge. I love the products but i lost only 2lbs. I followed everything on the calendar…ate right….and worked out like I usually do. Not sure what I did wrong. I also took thermoplus and the catalyst as well.

I noticed that the microwaveable brown rice has some canola and sunflower oil, is that ok?
Healthy Girl
18. Sep, 2012
@ Robyn,
It says canola or sunflower, and there are 3 grams of unsaturated fat per 1 cup serving, so must be small amount. Since you should only be using 1/2 cup, that will be fine. Enjoy.

I am confused about whole grains. Can I have bread that is 100% whole grain on the 24 day challenge? What about quinoa?? I also have BBQ sauce on my list of things I can have. Is there a certain brand I should buy?? Thanks!
Healthy Girl
13. Sep, 2012
@ Sarah,
No bread on the cleanse (no other wheat either).
You can have half cup of brown rice or quioa as your complex carb.
Barbecue sauce would be a no no since would contain sugar, etc.
