Griller’s Prime, a Vegetarian Alternative
Posted on 01. May, 2011 by Healthy Girl in Food Finds
A great find for our Advocare way of eating is Morningstar’s Griller’s Prime burgers. These veggie burgers cook up in the microwave in 1.5 minutes or you can grill them. Many veggie burgers are too high in carbs and sodium, and these are the best we have found in terms of balance along with good taste. I have had people challenge me – they swore there was beef in these babies, but it is only soy and vegetable protein. Wait until after you are done with your cleanse to use these as they contain wheat.

I’m a little confused. I’m a vegetarian and if I can’t eat these during the cleanse, what kind of lean protein can I eat that isn’t dairy? Is it ok to have quinoa during the cleanse? There’s tofu, which I think I can eat during the cleanse (hopefully?) and edamame that I can think of, but of course eating those for most meals for 10 days would be a bit much. Would black beans be acceptable? I think they are a complex carb, which as I understand is ok for lunch, but I’m not really sure what I could eat for dinner. Thanks for your help.

I was introduced to these by my sons girlfriend who is a vegatarian. I eat the veggieburger. You would swear there is beef in it. It is a great changeup in the menu.

I thought we were encouraged to stay away from processed foods? : )

@ Rachel S,
Agree to avoid most processed foods, but these are a good addition to the repertoire (not a daily item). 🙂

Can you please tell me what Advocare products are Vegan?

@ Jessica,
You should be in good shape with many of the products. For example, click on a product here, then print out the associated product page and you will see all ingredients in that product.

These burgers can be eaten during the Challenge? Would i still eat them on a bun or would it be better to just eat the burger?

@ Katie,
As noted in the post, not for the cleanse. For best results, wait until after the challenge. No bun!

@ Jeanette,
Try steamed veggies. They are seasoned well, so you won’t need anything added.
